Confidential Manufacturing Facility
Spanning 600,000 square feet, Southland Engineering provided coordination and construction support for major mechanical wet, dry, and process system upgrades for a large base-build semiconductor fabrication facility. The design team provided prefabrication spool drawings and collaborated with local subcontractors to provide installation guidance.
Approach & Innovations
With the facility located overseas, Southland Engineering utilized cloud-based modeling software to provide BIM modeling for ductwork and piping systems. Stateside, the design team was able to be heavily involved with the preconstruction process, specifically with estimating, budgeting, planning, and assisting the owner’s engineers. Daily coordination meetings with local and international teams took place to enhance and improve the accuracy and constructability of routing solutions.
Once the modeling was complete, Southland’s site staff took the role of installation expert to assist local contractors, the owner, and general contractor to ensure proper installation and continuous coordination and collaboration.
