Michael Starego, PE, LEED AP
As a Principal Engineer at Southland Engineering, Michael Starego is responsible for the quality control and personnel management, including supervision of design, for the electrical department within our Dulles, Virginia, office. His strong understanding of building systems beyond electrical systems along with his design-build project delivery experience has enhanced coordination during the design phases and mitigated issues throughout construction.
With more than two decades of experience, Mr. Starego has vast experience in analyzing building electrical systems to establish compliance with energy and safety codes, as well as producing electrical drawings and specifications, and construction administration. His involvement in various LEED certified projects has facilitated a greater understanding of implementing energy efficient and sustainable designs. His experience has led to the successful design and construction of projects like America Center Phase Two, DC Bar Headquarters, and several confidential data centers.
Mr. Starego received his bachelor’s degree in architectural engineering from the Pennsylvania State University. His industry affiliations include the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, National Fire Protection Association, National Society of Professional Engineers, and Illuminating Engineering Society of North America.
