As the Executive Vice President, Michael McLaughlin redefines the expectations of a modern day engineering firm by delivering cost responsible solutions that are innovative, constructable, and maintainable. With extensive experience in the engineering and construction industry, he is able to help Southland Engineering strategically bring engineering services to market and meet its business goals.
Since the start of his career in 1994, Mr. McLaughlin has been driven to combine engineering, construction, and facility operations to create high value and lasting solutions for clients in a wide range of industries. His roles in engineering, estimating, construction, and project management combined with his experience in integrated project delivery methods and lean thinking provided the unique insight necessary to craft Southland Engineering’s strategic position and delivery model. Mr. McLaughlin’s work in key markets such as healthcare, mission critical, and manufacturing includes facilities such as Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center, Baltimore Convention Center Hotel, Fort Belvoir Community Hospital, and several confidential data centers.
Mr. McLaughlin received his bachelor’s degree in architectural engineering from the Pennsylvania State University and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of California, Irvine. He is an active member in industry organizations, including the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air Conditioning Engineers, the American Society of Healthcare Engineers, Design-Build Institute of America, and the Lean Construction Institute.
